Sliding Doors

We’re busy painting, painting, painting, and painting. We painted our entry to the kitchen dark gray (see this post to get what I’m talking about) and we’re still working on the touch-ups. I hoped to have it finished today, but the Phillies kidnapped Nick.

So much painting behind us, still so much painting ahead of us. You’d think I would be sick of painting by now, right?

Well, I am, I’m tired of the ACT of painting but I will never tire of the IDEA of painting. I just love it’s transforming power!

Example:

I stumbled upon this blog and fell in love with the idea of black doors!

Movie Summary from Netflix: “Sliding Doors” Two wholly different universes unfold in writer-director Peter Howitt’s romantic fantasy about alternate realities, the reliability of subway schedules and the role fate plays in shaping our random lives. In the first scenario, Londoner Helen Quilley (Gwyneth Paltrow) squeezes through the subway doors just in time, making it home to find her boyfriend cheating on her. In the second, she misses the train and returns to her flat none the wiser.

I loved this movie. A great example of how a chick flick should be.

  1. Wow didnt realize black doors would look fabulous. Lately, i’ve been drawn to houses with the front door RED. warmth. BLACK screams “You can’t move me! I’m MODERN.” Great find. I also loved the movie Sliding Doors, indeed.

  2. YESSS, rachy! i was thinking the same thing- i’ve been drawn to front doors being RED lately… but hey, those black doors look fabulous, so GO FOR IT!! 🙂

  3. I used to want a red door, but almost all the doors in my neighborhood are red. Too common..

  4. Well… my stepmother’s house has a recently painted RED front door and I HATE it. I think it’s cuz the house is peach. Clashing, I know… *shakes head* hopefully I’ll convince her to repaint it by Christmas. My vote’s for black for indoors, def chic chic!

  5. Hey, thanks for the shout out! 🙂 So sweet of you.

I hadn’t seen the first and last photo before. That last one, in particular, helps me out because I’ve been wondering about whether or not to go with black on **all** of our interior doors upstairs – including closets. If we do, several of the rooms will have two black doors fairly close together – like that photo. Great to get a solid visual of what that would look like. Of course, if the rest of the room could look like that photo, I’d really be in business 🙂

If you wind up painting a door black, will you please send me a photo? I’d love to see how it turns out!!!

P.S. And thanks for your encouraging comment about our goofed up door project. Hopefully, we’ll get it all spiffed up by the end of this weekend.

Thanks so much for leaving a comment! You're awesome.
